The day before
On October 9, YMAT opened at $1.27 and ran to $3.69. By the official close it was back at $1.28, about where it started.
Pre-market: the float traded in the first 11 minutes
The first trades on the 12th were at $2.72, already far above the $1.28 close. The first minute reached $3.32.
By 4:11 a.m., more shares had traded than exist in the whole float (2.70 million).
The pre-market high was $3.88 at 5:51 a.m. After that it drifted down: $2.97 at 7:01, a bounce to $3.45 at 7:06, then $2.61 at 7:47. A short spike to $3.19 at 8:03 and a dip to $2.51 at 8:40 followed. 25.38 million shares traded before the bell.
The open: down to $1.95

The stock slid to $2.14 by 9:38, bounced to $2.40 at 9:40, then fell again. It hit $1.95 at 9:55, the low so far. Counting pre-market, about ten times the float had traded by 10:00.

After hours, two thin stray prints stood out: $2.09 at 4:19 p.m. and $2.93 at 4:24 p.m. The last bar of the night, at 7:59 p.m., closed at $2.62.
What to take from it
- A big ask wall can be eaten in seconds. Here 44,587 shares went at $3.03 in 4.8 seconds, and the thin book above cost a 5,000-share buyer $183 over the screen.
- A halt can reopen higher than it stopped, and the price can move before you can act. Both halts reopened above their last trade, and one second after the second reopen the screen was already at $4.19.
- After the top, the next pushes stopped lower. $4.49 was followed by minute highs of $4.28, $4.10 and $4.03. It closed at $2.84, 37% below the high.
Why it ran
News and SEC filings for YMAT published between the previous session's close and the first minute YMAT traded 20% above it, at 4:00 a.m. ET, newest first, from the same feeds the replay shows.

Gap, run and fade. It gapped up 99.2% to 2.55 at the open, ran from the open to the high of 4.49 in 80 minutes through two halts, then gave back 85% of that move by 4:00 p.m., trading at 2.84.

The shape is a fixed rule, not a judgement: gapped 10% or more at the open, ran 10% or more from the open to the high, and faded if it gave back 30% or more of that move by the close.
