A very quiet morning
The previous close was $2.33. The only pre-market volume was 18 shares at $2.61 at 9:05 a.m. It opened at $2.34, almost flat.
Most minutes after the open had no trades at all. The low was $2.18 at 10:15 a.m. A burst at 10:24 took it to $2.70 by 10:26, and then it went quiet again. The data shows no news headline for the day.
The float is 3.57 million shares. By 11:24 a.m., almost none of it had traded.
11:25: it wakes up, then three halts
At 11:25 a.m. the stock traded $3.00 for the first time that day. It climbed through $3 and reached $3.64 at 11:39. At 11:39:52 it was halted (a volatility pause). It reopened at 11:44:52, and the 11:45 minute dropped to $2.67 on 62,081 shares.
At 11:45:56 it was halted again. It reopened at 11:50:56.
The stock ran to $3.79 and at 11:53:26 it was halted a third time. It reopened at 11:58:26, with a 10,049-share print at $3.80. The 11:58 minute hit $4.47 on 105,939 shares.
Then it fell fast. By 12:01 it was down at $2.88, a drop of 36% from $4.47 in three minutes.
The wall at $4.50
From 12:10 p.m. on, someone was offering a lot of stock at exactly $4.50. By 12:12 it showed about 30,000 shares, roughly 0.9% of the float.
Stop It's 12:12. PFAI is at $4.35. Just above, roughly 30,000 shares are offered at $4.50. Would you buy here?
Press play: the real Level 2, time and sales and chart stop at 12:12 p.m. ET for your call, then show what happened. The clip starts at 12:09 p.m. ET.
Here's what happened. At 12:12:22 trades started hitting the $4.50 wall. In 2.3 seconds, 31,546 shares traded at exactly $4.50 and the wall was gone. It wasn't pulled. Buyers ate it.
At 12:14:03 one buy order swept 19,398 shares from $4.82 to $5.24 across 32 price levels. The stock traded through $5.00 and hit $5.39. At 12:14:40 it was halted a fourth time. During the halt, a 50,100-share ask wall at $6.21, first seen at 12:14:27, was pulled at 12:19:10.
It reopened at 12:19:40 with a 36,291-share print at $5.40. Three seconds later a buy swept 24,805 shares from $5.24 to $5.41. The 12:19 minute reached $6.42, up 101% from $3.20 at 12:06.
12:20: chop under a $7.49 wall
From 12:20 to 12:23 it chopped between $5.45 and $6.36. At 12:22:23 a 50,000-share ask wall appeared at $7.49.
Stop It's 12:24. PFAI is at $5.75, up from $3.20 at 12:06. Above it, about 50,000 shares are offered at $7.49. Would you chase it here?
Press play: the real Level 2, time and sales and chart stop at 12:24 p.m. ET for your call, then show what happened. The clip starts at 12:21 p.m. ET.
Here's what happened. The 12:24 minute ran to $7.02, the high of the day, on 308,314 shares. The $7.49 wall was pulled at 12:24:39. By the end of the 12:25 minute, more shares had traded than exist in the whole float (3.57 million). Within three minutes it was back at $5.80.
It bounced twice more, each lower: $6.81 at 12:26 and $6.40 at 12:27 and again at 12:29. Then it faded: $4.52 at 12:33, $3.65 at 12:49, and $3.33 at 1:10 p.m.
The afternoon and after hours
A 50,470-share ask wall at $4.95 sat on the book from 1:17 p.m. until 2:49 p.m. The stock fell to $3.05 at 2:20 and then ran again. At 3:03 a buy swept 22,422 shares from $5.46 to $5.70. It reached $6.05 at 3:51 p.m., a lower high than $7.02, and closed at $5.01.
By the close, 14.72 million shares had traded: the float changed hands about 4 times, at over 13,000 times its normal volume (normal volume is tiny: about 1,000 shares a day).
After hours it hit $6.19 at 4:01 p.m. It then fell to $3.87 by 4:41 p.m., down about 37%. After hours added 2.1 million shares.
What to take from it
- The $4.50 ask wall did not hold. The $4.50 wall was eaten in 2.3 seconds and the stock was through $5.00 two minutes later.
- Chasing a halt reopen costs more than the screen says. At the 11:58 reopen, the screen showed $3.53 with 20 shares, and 5,000 shares averaged $3.91.
- After the top, the next pushes stopped lower. $7.02 at 12:24 p.m., then $6.81, then $6.40. The afternoon run reached $6.05.

News and SEC filings for PFAI published between the previous session's close and the first minute PFAI traded 20% above it, at 11:25 a.m. ET, newest first, from the same feeds the replay shows.
No news found before the move.
