The day, step by step
- Small cap
- Momentum
- Main move: pre-market
- Catalyst: news
- Pre-market spike
- Round-number break
- Halted once
- Faded to the close
Pre-market: quiet, then 8:15
The previous close was $0.89. Before 8:15 a.m. almost nothing traded. Most minutes had no trades at all, and the few that did were small, between $0.92 and $0.98.
At 8:15 a.m. two things landed at once. GlobeNewsWire ran: "TURBO ENERGY EXPANDS ITS C&I FOOTPRINT WITH A $3.5 MILLION PORTFOLIO OF 15 INTELLIGENT ENERGY STORAGE PROJECTS". The company also filed a 6-K, a foreign company's current report. The 8:15 minute alone traded 80,345 shares.
It ran to $1.32 at 8:16 a.m. Then it fell hard. At 8:18 a.m. it hit $0.83, below the previous close, in three minutes. A sell-off right after a headline is easy to miss on a daily chart.
The spike to $3.96
It rebuilt slowly. The 8:29 minute opened at $1.12, reached $1.33 and closed at $1.28. By 8:31 a.m. more shares had traded than exist in the whole float (3.70 million). The 8:31 minute went to $1.79 on 897,144 shares. The 8:32 minute reached $1.90 on 1.28 million.
Then came the 8:33 minute. It opened at $1.84 and printed $3.96, the high so far, on 1.46 million shares. It closed that minute at $2.08. The next minute's high was $2.24.
A lower high followed. At 8:37 a.m. it pushed to $2.41. In that minute a single sell order swept from $2.38 to $2.22 across 17 levels. After that it slid. By 8:46 a.m. it was at $1.55. 15.47 million shares traded before the bell.
The wall at $2.00
From 8:57 a.m., a lot of stock was offered at exactly $2.00. Higher up, a wall at $2.20 showed from 9:24 a.m. and peaked at 125,726 shares at 9:36. The $2.00 wall peaked at 116,634 shares at 10:11 a.m., about 3% of the float.
The stock opened at $1.54 at 9:30, up 72% from the previous close. It then drifted. It dropped to $1.37 at 9:40 and $1.32 at 9:43, then slowly worked back up. At 10:07 a.m. it began climbing toward the wall: $1.79, then $1.87 at 10:08, then $1.97 at 10:09.
Stop It's 10:12. TURB is at $1.99. Just above, more than 100,000 shares are offered at exactly $2.00. Would you buy here?
Press play: the real Level 2, time and sales and chart stop at 10:12 a.m. ET for your call, then show what happened. The clip starts at 10:09 a.m. ET.
At 10:12:13 trades at $2.00 began. In under a second, 88,128 shares traded at exactly $2.00 and the wall was gone. It wasn't pulled. Buyers ate it. One buy order ran from $1.99 to $2.05 across 7 levels.
The break did not hold. The 10:12 minute reached $2.06, then closed at $1.86. By 10:14 it was $1.49 at the low. It was a break that failed within two minutes.
The halt
A new ask wall formed at $1.44 at 10:15:15 and grew to 108,351 shares by 10:15:29. At 10:15:29 it was halted (a volatility pause), with the last trade at $1.44. The wall sat at the price where it stopped.
Stop It's 10:20. TURB was halted for five minutes at $1.44 and is about to reopen. A large ask wall of over 100,000 shares sits at $1.44. Would you buy the reopen?
Press play: the real Level 2, time and sales and chart stop at 10:20 a.m. ET for your call, then show what happened. The clip starts at 10:17 a.m. ET.
It reopened at 10:20:29. A single 114,097-share print went through at $1.44 as it reopened, and the $1.44 wall was gone a second later. The wall was eaten.
Like the $2.00 break, this one led nowhere. The 10:20 minute reached $1.53, and by 10:24 it was down to $1.30.
The rest of the day
A bid wall at $1.30 appeared at 10:24 a.m. and peaked at 89,130 shares. It was pulled at 11:48:51, and the stock hit $1.22 at 11:48, the low after the open. At 11:20 a.m., Benzinga ran: "Turbo Energy Stock Surges Thursday: What's Happening?" The stock was at $1.42 then, far below the morning's high.
The afternoon was quiet. It stayed in a narrow range, mostly between $1.30 and $1.50. It closed the regular session at $1.39, 65% under the $3.96 high. That high came before the bell, at 8:33 a.m.
Regular-session volume was 11.96 million shares. For the whole day, 28.08 million shares traded: the float changed hands about 7.6 times, at 604 times normal volume. After hours added 646,337 shares, and it ended around $1.49 at 7:59 p.m.
What to take from it
- The biggest move came before the open, from the $1.22 open of the 8:31 minute to $3.96 at 8:33. The $3.96 spike lasted one 1-minute bar. A 5,000-share market buy at 8:33:07 averaged $3.36 against a $3.00 screen.
- Breaking a wall is not the same as a trend. The $2.00 wall went in under a second. Two minutes later the stock had hit a low of $1.49, well below the $1.99 where the 10:12 minute began.
- A halt reopen into a big wall can still go nowhere. The $1.44 wall was eaten, and the stock was lower within four minutes.
Why it ran

The day in numbers
- From news to the move: the first trade 20% above the previous close came less than a minute after the latest news item before it (GlobeNewsWire, 8:15 a.m.).
- Volume, from the one-minute bars: 15.47 million shares before the 9:30 a.m. open (55%), 2.80 million in the first 30 minutes (10%), and 9.80 million in the rest of the day to 8 p.m. (35%).
- Float rotation, the volume since 4 a.m. against the float of 3.70 million shares: past it once at 8:31 a.m., twice at 8:34 a.m., three times at 8:46 a.m.
- The halt at 10:15 a.m.: down 22.2% in the 5 minutes into it, reopened at 1.44, unchanged from the last trade before it, then down 7.6% over the next 5 minutes.
- In our recaps, this is the only day TURB met the small-cap rule.
