The day before
On September 14, VEEA opened at $1.51 and closed at $2.29. Counting after-hours trading, its high that day was $4.25.
The news came after the close. At 4:42 p.m. GlobeNewsWire ran: “Veea Inc. and NovaGen announce potential merger to launch an Edge AI-Powered Global Health Platform”. The last trade in the prior day's data was $4.22.
Pre-market: the float traded by 4:36 a.m.
The first trades on the 15th were at $4.05, already above the $2.29 close. By 4:36 a.m., more shares had traded than exist in the whole float (1.85 million). By 9:06 a.m. that was ten times the float.
The price did not run up at first. It slid to $3.32 at 5:18 a.m., down 24% from the $4.34 high of the first minute.
From $3.40 at 7:08 a.m. it ran to $4.43 at 7:59 a.m., up 30%, then drifted back near $4. The pre-market high was $4.53 at 8:47 a.m. 20.30 million shares traded before the bell.
The open and the halt
It opened at $4.33, up 89% from the previous close. The first minute alone traded 1.72 million shares, close to the whole float. It ran to $5.28 at 9:32 a.m., up 22% from the open.
At 9:33 an ask wall appeared at $5.77, peaking at 75,236 shares (4.1% of the float). It was pulled at 9:39:22. Price never reached it in that time.
From $5.13 at 9:55 a.m. the stock kept climbing. At 9:56:34 it was halted (a volatility pause) with the last trade at $6.23. At 9:57 a.m., during the halt, Benzinga ran: “Veea Stock Surges Tuesday: What's Driving the Action?”.
The halt had a second half the chart doesn't show. From 9:56:21, a bid wall sat at exactly $6.23, the price where it stopped. It peaked at 111,367 shares (6.0% of the float) and was pulled at 10:01:35, one second after trading resumed.
It reopened at 10:01 at $5.97, 4% below where it stopped. The first print was 157,025 shares at $5.97.
It did go higher, to $6.75 at 10:05 a.m., up 32% from $5.13 at 9:55. Then it chopped between about $5.21 and $6.45 for the next two hours.
The wall at $7.00
From 9:56 a.m. on, someone was offering a lot of stock at exactly $7.00. It peaked at 86,005 shares at 10:29 a.m., 4.7% of the float. The stock spent the next two hours below it.
Two other walls showed up in the middle of the day. Bid walls sat well below the price: 81,424 shares at $4.65 (pulled at 12:03:51) and 100,668 at $5.14 (pulled at 11:51:28). The price never traded down to either.
At 12:20 p.m. it was at $5.81. By 12:26 it had pushed to $6.37, and it was trading around $6.11 at the end of 12:28.
Stop It's 12:29. VEEA is at $6.13. Above, a large ask wall has sat at exactly $7.00 since 9:56, and it peaked at 86,005 shares. Would you buy here?
Press play: the real Level 2, time and sales and chart stop at 12:29 p.m. ET for your call, then show what happened. The clip starts at 12:26 p.m. ET.
Here's what happened. At 12:29:25 shares began trading at $7.00. In about a tenth of a second, 69,325 shares traded at exactly $7.00 and the wall was gone. It wasn't pulled. Buyers ate it. Three buy sweeps went through in that second and the next: 93,049 shares from $6.46 to $6.70, 166,522 from $6.72 to $7.20, and 72,124 from $7.10 to $7.47.
The 12:29 minute went from $6.13 to $7.49, the high so far, and closed at $7.01 on 1.44 million shares. Within three minutes it was back at $6.65.
The 1:10 drop and the rest of the day
It came back once more. At 12:46 p.m. it pushed to $7.33, a lower high under the $7.49 top. A buy sweep of 77,430 shares at 12:50:30 took it from $7.04 to $7.23, and it was back to $6.70 by 12:51.
The bigger break came at 1:10 p.m. The 1:10 minute opened at $6.72 and traded 799,042 shares. Two sell sweeps went through at 1:10:11 and 1:10:12: 101,062 shares from $6.67 to $6.25, then 93,984 from $6.25 to $5.52. The low of that minute was $5.52, down 18% in seconds.
It bounced to $6.14 by 1:17 p.m. and sagged again. A new ask wall formed at $5.82 at 2:22 p.m., peaking at 66,027 shares (3.6% of the float).
Stop It's 2:33. VEEA is at $5.70. An ask wall has sat at $5.82 since 2:22, peaking at 66,027 shares. Would you buy here?
Press play: the real Level 2, time and sales and chart stop at 2:33 p.m. ET for your call, then show what happened. The clip starts at 2:30 p.m. ET.
At 2:33:35 buyers started hitting the wall. In under a second, 16,248 shares traded at exactly $5.82, and it was eaten at 2:33:37. It pushed to $6.00 at 2:37 p.m., then slipped back to $5.56 by 2:40.
It closed the regular session at $5.71, after $5.10 at 2:05 p.m. and a late bounce to $6.27 at 3:16 p.m. After hours it traded between $5.03 and $5.99 on another 2.49 million shares, and the last bar was $5.88.
From 4 a.m. to the 4 p.m. close, 75.52 million shares traded: the float changed hands about 41 times, at 108 times its normal volume. The regular session alone was 55.22 million.
What to take from it
- The stock kept going on day two. Day one closed at $2.29. Day two opened at $4.33 and reached $7.49.
- A big ask wall at a round number can break in a blink. The $7.00 wall held for over two and a half hours, then 69,325 shares traded through it in about a tenth of a second.
- A halt can reopen lower than it stopped, and the first seconds cost extra. The 9:56 a.m. halt stopped at $6.23 and reopened at $5.97, and a 5,000-share buy in the first second averaged $6.00 against $5.99 on screen.
