The day, step by step

- Catalyst: news

- Lower high, faded
- Float traded about 1.8x
Pre-market: quiet, then 8:10
The official previous close was $0.93. The first trade on the 8th was at 4:00 a.m., at $1.00, already above that close.
For the next four hours it mostly drifted between about $0.95 and $0.98 on thin volume. The pre-market low was $0.9462 at 4:49 a.m. By 8:00 it was still at $0.97.
Then it started to climb. It was at $1.00 by 8:02 and $1.09 by 8:07. At 8:10 a.m. Business Wire ran: “Mobix Labs Secures Initial F-16 Component Order, Expanding U.S. Fighter Aircraft Footprint.” That minute traded 217,842 shares, far more than any minute before it. By 8:11 the high was $1.18.
It kept climbing: $1.24 at 8:17, $1.36 at 8:23, and the pre-market high, $1.40 at 8:26 a.m. Then it slid to $1.16 at 8:33, down 17% from the top. After that it held mostly between $1.17 and $1.28 until the open. 13.20 million shares traded before the bell.
The open
It opened at $1.18, up 27% from the previous close. A 46,101-share print at $1.18 came at 9:30:01. The stock then dropped. It fell to $1.11 at 9:31, the low since the open.
It base-built around $1.11 to $1.21 for the next several minutes. At 9:40 Business Wire ran a shorter headline: “Mobix Labs Secures Initial F-16 Component Order.” It carries the same news as the 8:10 headline, in fewer words.

It did not hold. The 9:59 candle closed at $1.33, and by 10:00 the low was $1.26. That is below the $1.40 where the 9:58 minute began, within about two minutes of the high.
The rest of the day
It climbed again. At 10:08 it matched $1.47, then slid. A new ask wall showed at $1.55 from 10:11. By 10:20 it was down to $1.29.
Stop It's 10:48. MOBX is at $1.29. A bid wall at $1.25 has been on the book since 10:02, when it showed about 157,000 shares. Since 10:20 the stock has been chopping between $1.27 and $1.37. Would you buy here?
Press play: the real Level 2, time and sales and chart stop at 10:48 a.m. ET for your call, then show what happened. The clip starts at 10:45 a.m. ET.
Here's what happened. At 10:48:29 a 110,605-share sell sweep went from $1.30 to $1.27. Two seconds later an 80,310-share sell went from $1.27 to $1.25, and the $1.25 bid wall was eaten at 10:48:32. The 10:48 candle touched $1.24, down 16% from $1.47, on 525,464 shares.

The regular session traded 27.54 million shares by the close, about 1.8 times the float. After hours added 1.12 million more. The stock bounced to $1.35 by 4:44 p.m. and faded to about $1.25 by 8:00 p.m.
What to take from it
- Big ask walls at round-number prices are levels, and buyers can eat them in seconds. Here $1.30 went in about six seconds and $1.40 in 17. The question is what happens in the minutes after.
- Breaking a wall doesn't mean it holds. The $1.47 high came seven seconds after the $1.40 wall broke, and the stock was back at $1.26 about two minutes later.
- After the top was matched, the later push stopped lower. $1.47 at 9:58 and again at 10:08, then $1.38 at 11:54.
