The day, step by step

Pre-market: the float traded by 8:10 a.m.

The official previous close was $0.86. The stock had traded about 10,000 shares the day before. The first trade of this day came at 8:00 a.m.

At 8:00 a.m. Business Wire ran: “LogProstyle Inc. Enters into Agreement to Acquire 100% of I-FLATZ Corporation.” The first trades of the day were at $0.94, already above the $0.86 close.

It ran fast. From $0.94 at 8:00 a.m. it reached the pre-market high of $1.54 at 8:04 a.m. That minute alone traded about 1.74 million shares. The book shows how rough it was. At 8:04:13 a buy order for 30,981 shares swept from $1.46 to $1.49. At 8:04:20 a 13,542-share print went through at $1.41, and two sell sweeps ran down through the book in the same second, one from $1.48 to $1.41.

The drop was quick too. By 8:07 it was at $1.03, with more sell sweeps on the way down. At 8:09 the company filed a 6-K (a foreign company's current report). Within a minute it traded as low as $0.88.

By the end of the 8:10 a.m. minute, more shares had traded than exist in the whole float (6.36 million). At 8:10:20 one buy order for 44,496 shares took 38 price levels to fill, going from $0.94 to $0.97. Then it slid to $0.86 at 8:15 a.m., down 44% from the high.

After bounces to about $0.97 at 8:16 and $0.96 at 8:24, it slid to the pre-market low. A 67,820-share bid wall appeared at $0.81 around 8:36 and was pulled at 8:40. The pre-market low was $0.77 at 8:44 a.m. In all, 9.11 million shares traded before the bell.

The open and the long middle

After that, not much. Volume dried up. Many minutes had only a few hundred shares, and some minutes had no trades at all. It drifted in a narrow band, mostly in the high $0.80s and low $0.90s, with $0.86 at 1:19 p.m.
