The day, step by step

The day before

The official previous close was $1.19. On August 24 the stock traded between $1.10 and $1.23. Its last bar of that day, which may be after hours, was $1.15.

The float is 22,200 shares. That is very small.

Pre-market: a wall at $1.25

At 4:01 a.m. there were 28,849 shares offered at exactly $1.25, about 130% of the float. That was its peak size. The first trades were at $1.20, and the stock stayed under the wall.

At 4:08 it reached $1.23. The bar had only 12 shares in it. By 4:12 it was back at $1.18. It touched $1.23 again at 4:54.

At 4:54:29 a.m. the $1.25 wall was pulled. The size left the book without trading there. In the same second a new ask wall appeared at $1.44, with up to 27,828 shares (about 125% of the float) at 4:59. It was pulled at 5:44:51, and a third wall showed up at $1.46 that same second. That one peaked at 29,081 shares at 10:34, about 131% of the float.

None of those walls was reached before the close of the regular session. Pre-market volume was just 4,996 shares, and the price stayed between $1.16 and $1.23 until the open.

The open and the session

It opened at $1.18, below the $1.19 previous close. For most of the morning it sat at $1.18 to $1.19 on thin trading. Many minutes had no trades at all.

In the afternoon it slid. It was $1.18 at 3:20 p.m. and $1.17 by 3:33.

Stop It's 3:55. The stock is $1.17, below the $1.19 previous close and the $1.18 open. It has slid slowly since 3:20, when it was $1.18. At 3:52 it printed $1.16 on about 2,200 shares, and now it is back at $1.17. Trading has been thin all day, and the float is only 22,200 shares. Would you buy here?

A dip followed. At 5:02 it was $1.55, then it chopped around $1.60 for most of the next half hour. A new push started at 5:48. It reached $1.95 at 6:00 and $2.19, the high of the day, in the 6:11 p.m. minute.
