The day, step by step

The day before

On August 24, AIXI ran from $0.48 to $0.82. It closed at $0.46, below where it opened. Volume that day was about 9 million shares.

Pre-market: the float traded by 4:04 a.m.

The first trades on the 25th were around $0.55, already above the $0.46 close. Our data has no news headline for the day.

By 4:04 a.m., more shares had traded than exist in the whole float (865,877). By 4:24 a.m. that was ten times the float.

Then it was slow. It crept from the $0.50s and $0.60s to $0.71 around 4:55 a.m. It touched $1.00 at 4:59, then mostly sat between about $0.78 and $0.96 for about an hour.

The real move came late. At 6:12 it was $1.18. Three minutes later, at 6:15 a.m., it hit $2.68, the high so far, up 486% from the previous close. That one minute traded about 4 million shares. It closed the minute at $2.09, and within seven minutes it was down to $1.57.

It fell to $1.46 at 6:27 a.m., 46% below the top. It pushed once more, to $1.82 at 6:42 a.m., a lower high under $2.68. After that it slid, touching $1.21 at 7:22.

A bid wall also sat at $1.25 from 7:23. It peaked at 196,457 shares at 8:59 (22.7% of the float) and was pulled at 9:06. By the bell, 93.29 million shares had traded.
