Before the news
LUCY closed the previous session at $0.68. On August 21 it had traded between $0.67 and $0.72. It was a quiet stock.
The first trade on the 24th came at 4:23 a.m., at $0.6839. For three hours after that it barely traded. A few minutes had a handful of shares, and most minutes had none.
At 7:30 a.m. PRNewsWire ran: “Innovative Eyewear Announces Expansion Into More than 150 Stores of One of the Largest Big Box Retailers in the United States”. The 7:31 candle opened at $0.728 and the stock reached $0.7296 by 7:34. It was back near $0.69 by 7:37. From there it drifted between about $0.685 and $0.71 for the next 20 minutes.
8:00 to the open: the float trades
At 8:00 a.m. PRNewsWire ran: “Innovative Eyewear, Inc. Announces Strategic Alliance with HTC Corporation”. Volume stepped up right away. At 8:05 the stock hit $0.8027 on 198,754 shares. The 8:06 minute traded 596,001 shares and reached $0.9048.
It kept going. The 8:09 candle hit $0.9396, about 37% above the previous close. During the 8:30 minute, more shares had traded than exist in the whole float (8.57 million).
After that it chopped. It sank to $0.77 by 8:37, then climbed. The pre-market high was $1.05, first reached at 9:15 a.m. In all, 20.06 million shares traded before the bell, about 2.3 times the float.
The open was $1.00, up 46% from the previous close. The first minute dipped to $0.946. The 9:31 candle went down to $0.8775, the low since the open. By 9:36 it had pushed to $1.09.
The wall at $1.10
After the 9:31 dip to $0.8775, the morning was a range between about $0.91 and $1.10. Starting at 10:09, someone was offering a lot of stock at exactly $1.10. By 10:49 it held 147,610 shares, about 1.7% of the float.
Stop It's 10:53. LUCY is at $1.08. Two cents above, a wall at $1.10 has sat there since 10:09 and held up to 147,610 shares at its peak. Would you buy here?

Then the stock sat. From 11:05 to 11:30 it spent most of its time between $1.01 and $1.07, on thin volume.
Stop It's 11:35. LUCY is at $1.11. A wall at $1.20 has sat there since 9:27 and held up to 162,074 shares at its peak. Would you buy here?
Press play: the real Level 2, time and sales and chart stop at 11:35 a.m. ET for your call, then show what happened. The clip starts at 11:32 a.m. ET.
Here's what happened. At 11:35:13 one buy order of 356,970 shares swept six price levels, from $1.12 to $1.17. One second later the first trade printed at $1.20. In 24.5 seconds, 317,515 shares traded at exactly $1.20 and the wall was gone. It wasn't pulled. Buyers ate it. The 11:35 minute traded 1,130,508 shares, the busiest minute of the regular session.
The 11:36 minute reached $1.30, the high of the regular session. A buy order of 81,658 shares went from $1.25 to $1.30 at 11:36:47. A new ask wall of 183,796 shares showed up at $1.24 at 11:37:10 and was pulled at 11:38:20. Within four minutes of the top, at 11:40, the stock was back down to $1.15.
The rest of the day
It came back. At 11:44 a.m. it pushed to $1.27, then to $1.26 at 11:45. After a dip to $1.12 at 11:52, it ran again. At 12:19 two buy orders (136,304 and 69,388 shares) took it from $1.25 to $1.30. That matched the regular-session high, but did not pass it. The 12:19 candle closed at $1.23. An ask wall at $1.40, first seen at 10:54, peaked at 142,062 shares at 12:19:54.
After that it slid. It reached $1.11 at 12:30 and $1.03 at 1:18 p.m. A bid wall at $1.03 had appeared at 12:24, and it peaked at 216,214 shares (2.5% of the float) at 1:22 p.m. The stock then spent the afternoon between about $1.03 and $1.13.

It closed at $1.09, 16% under the $1.30 regular-session high. 30.29 million shares traded in the regular session: the float changed hands about 3.5 times.
After hours
After hours, 4.0 million more shares traded. The low was $1.03 at 4:16 p.m. At 5:12 p.m. it pushed to $1.30, and the after-hours high, just over $1.32 and the high of the whole day, came in the 5:13 p.m. minute. That was above the regular-session high of $1.30. It was back to $1.07 by 5:19 and finished the evening near $1.08.
What to take from it
- Not every wall break holds. The $1.10 wall was eaten in under seven seconds, and one minute later the stock was at $1.00. The $1.20 break, with much more volume behind it, carried to $1.30.
- The float traded before the open. By the end of the 8:30 minute, more shares had traded than the float holds. The stock was already in play before the 9:30 bell.
- A retest of the high that doesn't pass it. At 12:19 the stock matched $1.30 but did not go above it, and then it faded into the close.
Why it ran
News and SEC filings for LUCY published between the previous session's close and the first minute LUCY traded 20% above it, at 8:06 a.m. ET, newest first, from the same feeds the replay shows.
