- Gap and fade
- Float traded about 4.6x
Pre-market: the 5:00 headline
The first trades on the 20th were at $1.72, already above the $1.46 previous close. It slid to the $1.50s by 4:20 a.m. and sat near $1.70 at 4:59.
At 5:00 a.m. GlobeNewsWire ran: “Huize Holding Limited Reports Unaudited Financial Results for the First Half of 2026.” In the 5:00 minute the stock jumped to $2.02. Nearly 161,000 shares traded in that minute.
It didn't hold. It fell to $1.57 at 5:02 a.m., down 22% from $2.02. It ran back to $1.94 at 5:04, then fell to $1.33 at 5:17 a.m., down 31%. That $1.33 was the low so far. After that it spent a long stretch between about $1.40 and $1.60.
Pre-market: the 8:10 spike
Nothing new came out. At 7:59 a.m. it opened at $1.62. By 8:09 it was $2.05. At 8:10 a.m. it traded through $3.00 for the first time and touched $4.00, up 147% from $1.62. About 1.85 million shares traded in that one minute.
Two minutes later it was back to $2.77 at 8:12 a.m., down 31% from $4.00. By 8:16 a.m., more shares had traded than exist in the whole float (7.67 million).
Then it climbed again. From $2.85 at 8:16 it ran to $4.06 at 8:22 a.m., up 42%.
Stop It's 8:23. HUIZ is at $3.72. It was $1.62 at 7:59 and has already touched $4.00 and $4.06, pulling back after each. It is up 155% from the $1.46 close, and more than the whole float has traded. Would you buy here?

Stop It's 9:24. HUIZ is at $3.23. A large ask wall has appeared at $3.36, just above. The 8:24 high of $4.17 is an hour old. Would you buy here?

The wall peaked at 82,000 shares at 9:24:45, about 1.1% of the float. At 9:24:59 it was pulled. The 9:24 minute reached $3.43 and closed there, and at 9:25:09 a 16,387-share print went through at $3.44. The rest of the morning stayed below the 9:12 high of $3.59.
The open and the halt
It opened at $3.06, up 110% from the previous close. A 38,075-share print went through at $3.06 at 9:30:00. In that first minute it fell to $2.49.
At 9:31:03 it was halted (a volatility pause) with the last trade at $2.49. It reopened at 9:36:03 at $2.40, 4% below where it stopped. The first print was 95,468 shares at $2.40.

The slide and the midday range
From the reopen it sagged. It was $2.06 at 10:00 and fell to $1.65 at 10:14, the low after the open. A 50,555-share sell sweep at 9:59:09 ran from $2.14 to $2.09.
After that it moved sideways, mostly between about $1.85 and $2.15. A bounce at 11:25 reached $2.15 in the 11:26 minute. At 11:31 Seeking Alpha posted the Q2 2026 earnings call transcript. At 11:27 another ask wall appeared at $2.31, peaking at 84,076 shares, and was pulled at 11:34:16.
The second wall at $2.31
A second ask wall appeared at the same price. From 1:52 p.m. the book again showed a large offer at $2.31. It peaked at 84,348 shares at 1:52 p.m., about 1% of the float. The stock was around $2.00 at the time.
At 2:14:11 p.m. it was pulled from the book.
The close and after hours
Late in the day another ask wall showed up, at $2.03. It started at 3:51 p.m., peaked at 144,625 shares at 3:52 (1.9% of the float), and was pulled at 3:59. By the 3:59 p.m. bar the stock was at $1.84, 56% under the $4.17 high. That high came before the bell, at 8:24 a.m., 36% above the $3.06 open.
By the close, 35.15 million shares had traded, including pre-market: the float changed hands about 4.6 times, at about 47 times its normal volume. The regular session itself was 9.16 million.
At 4:05 p.m., after the close, the company filed a 6-K (a foreign company's current report). After hours it traded between $1.57 and $2.02, with the high at 5:27 p.m.
What to take from it
- After the top, later highs were lower. $4.17 at 8:24 a.m., then $3.70 at 8:31 and $3.59 at 9:12 a.m.
- A halt can reopen below where it stopped. The 9:31 halt stopped at $2.49 and reopened at $2.40, and a 5,000-share buy one second after the reopen cost $15 more than the screen, against $49 at the 8:24 top.
- A big ask wall can disappear from the book. The $3.36 wall was pulled at 9:24:59 and the $2.31 wall at 2:14:11 p.m. A wall on the screen is not a promise.

How it traded
Gap and fade. It gapped up 109.6% to 3.06 at the open and traded below the open by 4:00 p.m., at 1.84.

The shape is a fixed rule, not a judgement: gapped 10% or more at the open, ran 10% or more from the open to the high, and faded if it gave back 30% or more of that move by the close.
