The day, step by step

The day before

On August 17, SGLY opened at $4.78 and reached $8.00. The official close was $4.49, below the open.

After hours it was back up. The last bar of that evening printed $6.67.

Pre-market: the float traded by 4:44 a.m.

The first trades on the 18th were at $5.98, already above the $4.49 close. By 4:07 a.m. it was at $6.45, and the 4:08 candle ranged from $6.58 to $5.22. At 4:09 a.m. it hit $5.03, down 24% from that high, on over 20,000 shares.

It then drifted for about 27 minutes between $5.09 and $5.76. At 4:26 a.m. it dipped to $5.18. At 4:38 a.m. it ran to $7.27, up 40% from that $5.18 dip. That one minute traded 119,770 shares.

By 4:44 a.m., more shares had traded than exist in the whole float (896,904). The float is also the total shares outstanding, so the volume equaled every share within about 45 minutes of the 4:00 start.

The runs kept coming in bursts. From $6.19 at 4:42 a.m. it pushed to $7.89 at 4:46 a.m., up about 27%. It then slipped back to $7.04 at 4:50 a.m.

The big one came next. In the 4:52 minute it went from $7.67 to $9.39 on 175,209 shares. At 4:53 a.m. it printed $9.85, the high so far, 119% above the previous close. Four minutes later it was down to $8.32.

It came back once more. At 5:05 a.m. it pushed to $9.21, a lower high under the $9.85 top. After that it slid. It was at $7.35 by 5:11 a.m. and stayed between $5.82 and $7.73 until the open. 5.33 million shares traded before the bell.

The open and the 9:37 filing

The open was $6.75, up 50% from the previous close and 31% under the pre-market high. At 9:30:00 a single trade of 12,006 shares printed at $6.75. The first minute then fell to $6.28.

From 9:22 a.m. there was a big bid at $6.45. It peaked at 9:23 at 25,220 shares, about 2.8% of the float. It was pulled at 9:28:01, two minutes before the open.
