The day, step by step
- Small cap
- Momentum
- Main move: late morning
- Bid wall pulled
- Halt run
- Halted twice
- Faded into the close
The day before and pre-market
The official previous close on August 4 was $1.29. Pre-market was quiet. The pre-market high was $1.26, first at 4:02 a.m. and again at 9:20 a.m. Only 3,265 shares traded before the bell. The float is 5.62 million shares, so that is a tiny fraction of it.
The open and the first push
It opened at $1.26, below the $1.29 close. By 9:34 a.m. it was at $1.34. Then it climbed in steps to $2.06 at 10:11 a.m.
It didn't hold. It dropped to $1.44 at 10:35 a.m. and then sat in a tight range around $1.50 to $1.60 for about half an hour. Volume was low in those minutes. At 11:04 it was still at $1.65.
The bid at $2.00 and the first halt
From 11:05 the price started rising again. By 11:09 it was through $2. At 11:11 a.m. a bid for stock at exactly $2.00 showed up on the book across all exchanges, under the price.
At 11:11:55 it was halted (a volatility pause) with the last trade at $2.44.
Stop It's 11:21. ZYBT is about to reopen from a halt. It stopped at $2.44. A large bid sits at $2.00, well below. Would you buy the reopen?
Press play: the real Level 2, time and sales and chart stop at 11:21 a.m. ET for your call, then show what happened. The clip starts at 11:18 a.m. ET.
It reopened at 11:21:56 at $2.80. The first trade after the halt was a single print of 113,985 shares. The $2.00 bid grew to a peak of 95,430 shares at 11:22 a.m., about 1.7% of the float. The stock then ran to $3.38 at 11:23 a.m.
The wall is pulled
At 11:22:45 a sell order of about 124,800 shares went through 21 price levels, from $3.15 down to $2.94. At 11:23:04 the $2.00 bid was pulled: the size left the book without trading there. By 11:24 a.m. more shares had traded than exist in the whole float (5.62 million).
Above the price, a new ask wall showed up. At 11:24:27 there was stock for sale at $4.00. It peaked at 65,306 shares at 11:24:51.
The second halt
The stock chopped between $2.73 and $3.50, then spiked. At 11:28:51 it was halted again with the last trade at $3.84.
Stop It's 11:33. ZYBT reopens from its second halt, which stopped at $3.84. A large ask wall sits at $4.00. Would you buy the reopen?
Press play: the real Level 2, time and sales and chart stop at 11:33 a.m. ET for your call, then show what happened. The clip starts at 11:30 a.m. ET.
It reopened at 11:33:51 at $3.53, below where it stopped. The reopen print was 133,918 shares. The best ask a second later was $3.56.
It hit $3.86 at 11:33, then dropped to $2.82 at 11:34 a.m. and bounced right back. At 11:35:11 the $4.00 wall was hit. 15,665 shares traded at exactly $4.00 in 0.6 seconds and the wall was gone. A new ask wall formed at $5.00 and grew to 73,101 shares by 11:39.
The high of the day was $4.28 in the 11:36 minute. At 11:36:25 a sell order of about 43,200 shares went through 25 levels, from $4.20 to $3.96. Within four minutes it was back at $3.09 at 11:40.
The rest of the day
It came back once more. At 11:51 a.m. it pushed to $3.83, a lower high under $4.28. Then it faded. At 12:00 it dropped to $2.72 and spent the next hour between $2.60 and $3.17.
A $3.20 ask wall sat from 12:43 until 1:38 p.m. The price never got there. At 1:26 p.m. it broke down to $2.34, and by 1:58 p.m. it was at $1.84. From about 2:00 p.m. it worked back up, and at 3:15 p.m. it reached $2.97. It closed at $2.35.
For the regular session, 25.47 million shares traded, about 4.5 times the float. Relative volume was about 4.5 times normal.
After hours
After hours it slid from $2.35 at 4:00 p.m. to $1.77 at about 6:36 p.m. 783,397 shares traded after hours.
What to take from it
- A big bid under the price can vanish. The $2.00 bid peaked at 95,430 shares, then was pulled without trading. Seeing size on the book does not mean it will be there when you need it.
- Reopens are thin. Both fills cost more than the screen: $186 over after the first reopen and $322 over after the second.
- After the top, the next push stopped lower. $4.28 at 11:36, then $3.83 at 11:51. It closed at $2.35, well under the high.
Why it ran
News and SEC filings for ZYBT published between the previous session's close and the first minute ZYBT traded 20% above it, at 9:55 a.m. ET, newest first, from the same feeds the replay shows.
No news found before the move.
How it traded
Intraday run. It opened down 2.3% at 1.26, then ran from the open to the high of 4.28 in 126 minutes through two halts.

The shape is a fixed rule, not a judgement: gapped 10% or more at the open, ran 10% or more from the open to the high, and faded if it gave back 30% or more of that move by the close.
