A lower high, the walls, and the close
It came back once more. It closed the 3:33 candle at $2.58. At 3:34 it pushed to $2.70, a lower high under the $2.89 top. At 3:34:29 an ask wall appeared at $2.99, and at 3:34:46 another at $2.80.
Stop It's 3:35. ZYBT is at $2.33, after touching $2.70 in the last minute. Ask walls have appeared at $2.80 and $2.99. Would you buy here?
Press play: the real Level 2, time and sales and chart stop at 3:35 p.m. ET for your call, then show what happened. The clip starts at 3:32 p.m. ET.
Here's what happened. The 3:35 candle dipped to $2.14 and the 3:36 candle to $2.03. It bounced to $2.53 at 3:41 but did not get back to $2.70. The wall at $2.80 peaked at 32,657 shares at 3:35:49 and was pulled at 3:52:41. The stock slid into the bell, touched $1.68 at 3:59, and closed at $1.71. After hours it ran back to $2.83 at 4:19 p.m.
What to take from it
- A quiet stock can turn into a halt run in minutes. ZYBT held between $1.13 and $1.20 from the open until 2:15 p.m., then was halted four times between 2:50 and 3:26 p.m.
- A reopen price is not always the price you get. After the first halt, a 5,000-share buy one second after the reopen would have averaged $1.91 against a $1.87 screen. After the second, the same order averaged $2.55, $0 over the screen.
- A high can stall just under an ask wall, and the bounce after it can be lower. The $2.89 high came 11 cents under the $3.00 wall, and the later push reached only $2.70.
