BENF on September 23, 2026, one-minute bars in New York time. Shaded: before the 9:30 a.m. open and after the 4:00 p.m. close. Bands: halts.

The day before, and a quiet start

On September 22, BENF closed at $0.54 (the official close was $0.5383). It traded 862,175 shares that day, between $0.4994 and $0.573.

The 23rd began just as quietly. From 4:01 a.m. to 7:29 a.m. it traded mostly between about $0.51 and $0.53, usually in small lots. Only a few minutes had more than a few thousand shares.

Pre-market: the float traded by 7:35 a.m.

At 7:30 a.m. GlobeNewsWire ran: “Beneficient Announces Strategy to Eliminate HCLP Debt and Heppner Equity Interests”. That minute traded 285,882 shares, and the high was $0.6997.

By 7:35 a.m., more shares had traded than exist in the whole float (1.10 million). The company filed an 8-K at 7:35 a.m. as well. By 7:51 a.m. that was ten times the float.

The price went up in steps. It first reached $1.00 at 7:48 a.m. and traded through $2.00 at 8:02 a.m. At 8:05:33 a.m. one buy order of 129,767 shares went through 29 price levels, from $2.36 to $2.65. The high to that point was $2.72 at 8:05 a.m., up from about $0.52 before the 7:30 headline.

It did not hold. It fell to $2.16 at 8:06 a.m., pushed to $2.80 at 8:07 a.m., and was back to $2.01 at 8:12 a.m. After that it chopped around $2, dipped to $1.85 at 8:50 a.m., and ran to $2.75 at 9:19 a.m.

The pre-market high was $2.95 at 9:29 a.m. 78.15 million shares traded before the bell.

The open: a wall, then four halts

It opened at $2.92, up 442% from the previous close, and hit $3.03 within the first minute.

Level 2 shows something a chart doesn't. At 9:30:20 an ask wall appeared at $2.73. It peaked at 404,360 shares at 9:30:31, about 37% of the float. At 9:30:34 the stock was halted (a volatility pause). The wall was pulled at 9:35:11, while trading was still stopped.

The halt ended at 9:40:34, and the reopen was $2.46, not $2.73. A single trade of 227,263 shares printed there. From then on the pattern repeated. It was halted at 9:41, 9:51 and 9:57, and each reopen was lower: $2.15, then $1.93, then $1.81 at 10:02. At 9:56:33 a buy order of 140,445 shares ran from $1.95 to $2.08.

The drop to $1.44 and the grind back

It fell to $1.80 at 10:02 a.m., down 41% from the $3.03 high of the open. It ran to $2.20 at 10:07 a.m. Then it dropped to $1.44 at 10:18 a.m., the low since the open.

From there it went up in a halt-by-halt climb. It was halted 3 times between 10:22 and 10:41. At 10:46 it reopened at $2.04, and by 10:56 it was down at $1.47 again. A Benzinga story, “Beneficient Stock Skyrockets Wednesday: What's Going On?”, came at 10:51.

The next push was bigger. Between 10:57 and 11:53 it was halted 7 more times. Most reopens were higher than the one before, from $1.66 up to $2.89. At 11:52:23 one buy order took 122,111 shares from $2.71 to $2.78.

The 11:58 halt and the 12:03 reopen

At 11:55 a new ask wall of about 362,000 shares showed up at $2.99. It was gone by 11:57. At 11:58 the stock was halted again, with the last trade at $3.04. More stock appeared higher up. A wall of about 375,000 shares at $3.15 was on the book from 12:00. That is roughly a third of the float.

Stop It's 12:03. BENF has been halted since 11:58 with the last trade at $3.04, and is due to reopen. Level 2 had shown about 375,000 shares at $3.15 until 12:03:33. Just before the reopen, about 352,000 shares were offered at $3.09. Would you buy the reopen?

Press play: the real Level 2, time and sales and chart stop at 12:03 p.m. ET for your call, then show what happened. The clip starts at 12:00 p.m. ET.

Here's what happened. It reopened at 12:03:45 at $3.09, with a single print of 389,414 shares. It hit $3.15, the high of the regular session, in that same minute. The $3.15 wall had been pulled at 12:03:33. A $3.09 wall appeared then and was gone by 12:04:58.

At 12:04 it was halted again, with the last trade at $2.94.

The wall at $2.94

The halt lasted 20 minutes. An ask wall appeared at exactly $2.94 at 12:03:57, just before the halt, right at the price where it stopped. It peaked at 371,837 shares at 12:04 p.m., about 34% of the float.

The stock reopened at 12:24:11 at $2.24, 24% below where it stopped. A single print of 295,623 shares went through at that price.

The $2.94 wall stayed through the reopen. The stock was halted again at 12:24:37, and at 12:33:41, still during that halt, the wall was pulled without trading there. When it reopened at 12:34:37 it printed $1.90. The low of that drop was $1.75 at 12:34 p.m., down 44% from $3.15.

The afternoon

It reopened at $2.19 at 12:45 p.m. and ran to $2.59 at 12:53 p.m. At 12:53:30 a sell order of 87,543 shares went down through 19 levels, from $2.59 to $2.40. Then it settled in the $2.20 to $2.40 range for a while.

It was halted 3 times between 1:14 p.m. and 1:28 p.m., and the reopens came at $2.40, $2.67 and $2.70.

At 1:27 p.m. it reopened and ran to $2.90. At 1:35 p.m. it pushed to $2.96, a lower high under the $3.15 top. It was mostly in the $2.20 to $2.70 range through the later afternoon, with halts at 2:01, 2:07, 2:27 and 2:38 p.m. It was at $2.87 at 3:56 p.m., when it was halted for the last time before the close.

The close and after hours

Trading resumed at 4:00 p.m. The 4:00 minute hit $3.39, the high of the day, then fell back. In the regular session, 41.58 million shares traded. Together with the 78.15 million before the bell, that is far more than the 1.10-million-share float. The whole day came to 129.13 million shares, at 33 times its normal volume, and it was halted 39 times.

After hours it slid. It was at $2.21 by 5:00 p.m. and $1.86 by 6:14 p.m., down 45% from $3.39. 9.39 million shares traded after the close.
