What to take from it
- A wall breaking is not always the move. The $4.16 wall was eaten in 3.5 seconds, but the stock was lower 17 minutes later. The real run started at 9:57.
- A halt can reopen higher than it stopped, and the book is thin right after. The 2:44 p.m. halt stopped at $6.89 and reopened at $7.11. A 5,000-share buy a second later cost $230 over the screen.
- After hours can undo the day. It traded at $9.30 at 4:04 p.m. and at $5.32 by 7:50 p.m.
