The day before
On August 21, PMI opened at $3.15 and reached $5.49. It closed at $3.21.
Its last bar of that day was at $4.70, well above the close. Our data has no headline for either day, so we can't say why.
Pre-market: the $4.76 wall
The first trades on the 24th were at $4.61, already above the $3.21 close. The 4:00 a.m. minute alone reached $5.06.
From 4:01:59 a.m., someone was offering a lot of stock at exactly $4.76. The wall peaked at 29,077 shares at 4:02:47, about 2% of the 1.39-million-share float.
Stop It's 4:03. PMI is at $4.75. A wall of up to about 29,000 shares has been offered at $4.76 since 4:01, one tick above. Would you buy here?

It didn't run. It fell to $4.34 at 4:10 a.m., down 14% from the $5.06 of the first minute. Then it climbed to the pre-market high, $5.11 at 4:42 a.m.
By 4:45 a.m., more shares had traded than exist in the whole float. 3.57 million shares traded before the bell. After that it drifted lower: $4.46 at 5:38 a.m., a bounce to $4.84 at 6:08, and $4.19 at 7:23 a.m.
The open and the wall at $5.00
A second wall sat higher. An ask wall at $5.00 was first seen at 6:55:16 a.m. It peaked at 30,068 shares at 9:58:20, about 2.2% of the float.

One halt and the regular-session high
Here's what happened. In the 10:32 minute it ran from $4.56 to $4.93 on 122,711 shares. At 10:33:11 it was halted (a volatility pause), with the last trade at $4.93.
Two seconds into the halt, a new ask wall showed on the book at $5.88. It was 50,513 shares, 3.6% of the float. It was pulled at 10:45:57.
It reopened at 10:43:11 at $5.35, 9% above where it stopped and above the $5.00 wall. A single trade of 91,460 shares went through at $5.35. A buy order of 25,378 shares swept 35 price levels, from $4.97 to $5.36. The $5.00 wall was gone one second later. Only 982 shares traded at exactly $5.00, so this wall wasn't eaten the way the $4.76 one was.
The 10:43 minute made $5.36, the high of the regular session, and closed at $5.01 on 429,064 shares. At 10:45:53 a sell order of 34,581 shares went through $5.01 to $4.95. Within six minutes, at 10:49, it was down to $4.62.
The drop to $4.14, and a late push
A bid wall of about 31,000 shares showed at $4.12 at 10:57:40. It was 2.3% of the float at its peak and was pulled at 12:06:08. The stock fell to $4.14 at 11:48 a.m., down 23% from $5.36. That was above the wall.
Midday it moved around $4.30 to $4.90. A 30,370-share buy order swept 19 levels, $4.51 to $4.69, at 12:35. The 12:42 minute reached $4.90.
The last real push came late. In the 3:49 p.m. minute it went from $4.78 to $4.94. At 3:59 p.m. it reached $5.30, a lower high under the $5.36 top. It closed the regular session at $5.19, up 62% on the day.
The regular session (9:30 to 4:00) traded 4.75 million shares. With pre-market 3.57 million and after hours 2.24 million, the day came to 10.55 million shares: the float changed hands about 7.6 times. Relative volume was about 32.
After hours: $7.50
The biggest price of the day came after the close. After hours it dipped to $4.84 at 4:04 p.m. At 4:56 p.m. it jumped from $5.25 to as high as $6.08 on 99,856 shares. By 5:00 p.m. it reached $7.50, up 55% from the $4.84 low. We have no headline for it.
It didn't hold. It was back to $5.38 by 5:23 p.m. The last trade of the session, at 7:59 p.m., was $5.96.
What to take from it
- A wall that gets eaten is different from a wall that disappears. At $4.76, 15,287 shares traded at the price and the stock then fell to $4.34 within seven minutes. At $5.00, only 982 shares traded there and the price jumped through it.
- Here, buying in the first second after the wall broke or the halt reopened cost more than the screen showed. Here that was $111 at 4:03 a.m. and $451 at 10:43 a.m. on 5,000 shares.
- After the top, the next push stopped lower. $5.36 at 10:43 a.m., then $5.30 at 3:59 p.m. The biggest price of the day, $7.50, came after hours.
