Pre-market and the headline
BTOG closed the day before at $0.77. The pre-market was thin. The high was $0.77, first at 5:25 a.m., and only 4,182 shares traded before the bell.
At 8:30 a.m. GlobeNewsWire ran: “Bit Origin Ltd Announces 1-for-5 Reverse Stock Split Effective August 21, 2026”. The split was set for two days later. The stock did not jump on it. The 8:30 minute traded at $0.76, and it stayed near there into the open.
The open and a long, quiet middle
It opened at $0.755, down 3% from the previous close. The low so far was $0.73 at 9:39, on a minute with just 19 shares. This stock has a very small float, 56,352 shares, and a few hundred shares can move the price.
By 12:29 p.m., counting the pre-market, more shares had traded than exist in the whole float. Even so, the price barely moved. From 10:35 until 3:14 p.m. it stayed between about $0.76 and $0.90. Most minutes traded only a few dozen shares or fewer, with a few spikes of volume, like 9,974 shares at 11:55 and 10,339 at 11:58.
3:14 p.m.: the move starts
At 3:14 p.m. the price was $0.88 and the minute traded 9,624 shares. At 3:15 it traded 34,540 shares, more than half the float in one minute, and the high went to $0.98.

The top at $1.11
The regular-session high, $1.11, came in the 3:19 minute. The 3:20 minute dipped to $0.977 and closed at $1.03.
That is 5,000 shares on a stock whose whole float is 56,352. The order alone would be almost 9% of the float.
The fade
It came back once more. At 3:22 p.m. it pushed to $1.06, a lower high under $1.11. At 3:23 it dropped to $0.95, and at 3:23:14 a sell order of 11,743 shares went through ten levels, from $1.00 to $0.98.
A second ask wall formed at $1.20, first seen at 3:29:27, with 24,633 shares (44% of the float). At 3:31:02 another sell order of 10,023 shares went through 16 levels, from $0.9712 to $0.95. The 3:34 minute hit $0.85 on 53,505 shares.
After a small bounce it slid to $0.84 at 3:46 p.m. and closed at $0.87, 21% below the high. The regular session traded 1.18 million shares: the float changed hands about 21 times.
After hours
The after-hours session was bigger than the regular one. About 4.55 million shares traded. The price fell to $0.79 at 4:08 p.m., then climbed to $1.37 at 6:31 p.m., 73% above that low and above the regular-session high of $1.11. By 7:59 p.m. it was back to $0.93.
What to take from it
- On a float this small, volume alone doesn't mean much. The float had traded by 12:29 p.m. and the price still sat near $0.83. The move came with 34,540 shares in one minute at 3:15 and 119,300 at 3:17.
- After the top, the next push stopped lower. $1.11 in the 3:19 minute, then $1.06 at 3:22. Sellers hit the bid in size on the way down.
- Chasing a thin book costs more than the screen says. At 3:19:29 the screen said $1.09 with 173 shares offered, and a 5,000-share buy averaged $1.11.
