Pre-market: the headline spike

At 8:03 a.m. GlobeNewsWire ran: “Safe Pro Reports Record 1,336% Revenue Growth in Q2 2026 Driven by Multiple Government Contracts for AI-Powered Threat Detection and Mapping”. The first trades of the day printed that same minute, at $4.72, already above the $4.48 previous close.

From $4.84 at 8:04 it ran to the pre-market high, $5.74 at 8:05 a.m. That minute alone traded 183,288 shares. Then it came apart. By 8:08 it was at $4.39, down 24% from the high and below the previous close.

It kept sliding. At 8:14 it touched $4.33. At 8:28 it hit $4.12, the low so far. At 8:44 the company filed an 8-K (a current report). In the 8:44 minute the stock traded between $4.36 and $4.40. After the first few minutes, most of the pre-market was quiet. 801,276 shares traded before the bell, and the spike minutes made up most of that.

The open: below the close

SPAI opened at $4.30, 4% under the previous close. The low since the open was $4.17 at 9:31. Until 10:00 the stock stayed between about $4.17 and $4.52, with some minutes trading only a few hundred shares.

The 10:00 push

At 10:00 it was $4.49. It climbed from there, and in the 10:16 minute it went from $4.85 to $4.98.

At 10:17:27 a single buy order for 11,208 shares went through ten price levels, from $5.07 to $5.18. The minute's high was $5.25, 26% above the $4.17 low after the open, and it closed at $5.20.

It didn't hold. The next minute it dropped to $4.84 and closed at $4.97. By 10:27 it was down to $4.72.

The afternoon

After that, the stock stepped up instead of spiking. It was above $5.20 by 11:00 and at $5.57 by 11:56. At 12:00 it reached $5.71. It spent most of the early afternoon around $5.50 to $5.70, then pushed to $5.83 at 2:04 p.m.

At 3:39 p.m. another large buy order went through five price levels, 13,132 shares from $5.98 to $6.04. The minute's high was $6.07.

It reached $6.25 at 3:55 p.m., the high of the regular session. Its last regular-session minute, 3:59, closed at $6.20, 38% above the previous close.

After hours: $7.84

At 4:01 p.m. the company filed a 10-Q (the quarterly report). At 4:10 p.m. a Schedule 13G/A (a passive holder's update) was filed. Through this the stock stayed between $6.11 and $6.24.

The big move came later. From $6.26 at 4:24 it climbed to $6.54 by 4:31. Then at 4:32 it jumped to $6.98. In the 4:34 minute it hit $7.84, the high of the day, on 102,153 shares in one minute. That was 75% above the previous close.

None of the headlines or filings that day came after 4:10, so nothing in the data shows what drove it. It pulled back to $7.15 at 4:35 and drifted lower for the rest of the evening. It ended around $6.21 at 7:59 p.m.

The regular session traded 861,663 shares. After hours traded 1,753,502, more than double that. For the whole day, 3,416,441 shares traded against a float of 15.06 million, at 85 times normal volume (normal is about 40,000 shares a day).

What to take from it

• A headline spike can disappear in minutes. SPAI ran from $4.72 to $5.74 and was below the previous close by 8:08.
• The slow climb is a different trade from the spike. After the 10:27 dip, SPAI moved up to the close in small steps rather than one burst.
• The highest price of the day came after the regular session ended. The $7.84 high printed at 4:34 p.m., and the after-hours volume was more than double the regular session's.
